Hello everybody!

Although you are working very well despite the current situation and the communications by email are fluent, I am scheduling 1-hour virtual sessions per week by Teams. In case you want to join, let me know and I will send you an invitation. Please notice that it is totally volunteer and webcam is not required.

These are the hours scheduled per level:

3º E.S.O.: Monday, 16:00.
4º E.S.O.: Monday, 13:00.

These groups (3º and 4º E.S.O.) are more focussed in solving doubts about your IGCSE and the administrative proccess designated by Cambridge this year, although I'll let you know all the updated news also by email.

Have a nice week! :)

3º-4º British: updated news IGCSE

Good news! Finally TODAY I have received the confirmation about the process for the IGCSE Geography & History exams: the process of convalidation will be similar to English as First language.

Although Cambridge will take the final decission over your mark, at the end it will be based on your score in my subject; that means that we must continue with the scheduled plan: lessons, monthly works, etc.

Don't give up and work hard this term! :)

Back to home-schooling!

Good morning everyone!

Hope all of you are fine and healthy... We still have several weeks of quarantine ahead so let’s face it the best we can.

Because this is a totally new and unexpected situation, I have rescheduled both the timeline and the syllabus and I have something positive for you: there will be NO EXAMS this term, hoooray!!!. No matter how this situation evolve, even if we can go back to classroom before summer, you won’t have exams on my subject :) Needless to say, you will have some other homework and tasks. And, as far as you send them well-done and on time, you will reach the maximum score in the “behaviour” percentage (10%).

What do you have to do from now on? Well, click on the pertinent link and you will discover it:

And, as usual, anything you need just email me (blogeducativo08@gmail.com), I’ll be here for you.

Have a nice day and take care.

3º and 4º British: your IGCSE exams

The quarantine situation due to Covid-19 will probably also impact the scheduled examination plan (EBAU, IGCSE, etc.).

For those of my students that are taking this year IGCSE the lattest news are that nothing has changed and you are expected to get your exams as planned in May-June (hopefully, everything will be back to normal by then): "We currently plan to deliver the June 2020 series where schools are open or exams can be held safely elsewhere".

You can read here the full message to Cambridge Schools from Chief Executive Christine Özden.

#orangetheworld

This is the slogan for the United Nations' campaign against the gender violence. We've also mentioned in Geography class the different real (economical) benefits for the whole society of offering equal education and opportunities both to boys and girls. You can read it again in this post: "When a girl goes to school..."

When a girl goes to school...

Yesterday in class we mention the benefits, in real life, of giving education to girls. When a girl receives education, she has a real opportunity to break the cycle of poverty in just one generation.

It is not onlye a question of rights and ethics, but also a benefit for the society and for the country's economy. For example, each 1% increase in the level of women's education generates 0.3% in additional economic growth.

You can read more direct benefits of investing in education by clicking on the infography.

Understanding Plagiarism

Thanks to Ken Halla (World History Educators Blog), here is a great short video (only 2 minutes, in English) defining plagiarism for kids. Maybe with this, you will be able to understand better why plagiarism is wrong and not allowed in class...

Be careful next time, ok?
